On Friday, 20 November 2015, starting at 4:30 p.m., Ms Maja Pulić de Sanctis, lecturer at the Political Science and International Relations Department of the SSST University, together with Ms Olja Jovanović, lecturer at the University of Philosophy in Belgrade held a guest lecture/workshop on Qualitative Research Methodology at the University of Philosophy in Belgrade, as part of the RRPP project "From Inclusive Identities to Inclusive Societies: Exploring Complex Social Identity in the Western Balkans",

This workshop provided an overview of qualitative methodology and discussed when qualitative methods should be used, how to define a study sample, and the difference between qualitative and quantitative research methods.

On the basis of qualitative data from the RRPP project, it also provided a description of when and how to use interviews and focus groups in research studies, as well as the logistics when planning interviews, focus groups, observations and case studies. Special emphasis was given to the analysis of qualitative data (categorization, interpretation and coding).

In small groups, the students practised coding and analysing qualitative data by hand, as well as presented some of various computer applications (MAXQDA, ATLAS, NVivo) available for data analysis.
